Don't Move to Northern Arizona Until You Know THESE 3 Things
[00:00:00] Don't move to Northern Arizona, rural Arizona, without knowing these three things. Living in Northern Arizona is absolutely awesome. I love it. However, it's not for everyone, and if you do move here, you should know these three things. Number one, medical care. Healthcare is limited in rural areas. It just is.
We love living here, but there just aren't enough people to support all the specialists that you can find in a metropolitan area. How we compensate for that here in the Camp Verde, Cottonwood area is Flagstaff is about an hour away, and Phoenix is an hour and a half. Everything that you could possibly think of for specialists is located in those areas.
The day-to-day stuff, the emergency room, those type of things, we have that. [00:01:00] We are well situated. That's the word I was looking for, situated, for day-to-day medical stuff. However, if you have special medical needs, please, please research the area for specialists and how far will you need to drive if you have to go and see them on a regular basis Number two.
Oh, the fire score, and right now while I'm recording this, we are having a massive fire in Sedona. It's called the Pocket Fire. You can look it up historically, you can look it up, and that is a huge issue. I just found out from a title agency yesterday that the home that was supposed to close couldn't because they were within 15 miles, 18 miles, 20 miles I think it was, of an active wildfire, and they were buying in Clarkdale.
And yes, we are [00:02:00] close, but we're not that close, and insurance companies drive the bus, and they look at that fire score, and if it's too high, they may not give you fire insurance. And if there's a wire- wildfire active, you're not gonna get insurance from most insurance companies. So look up the Pocket Fire.
Right now I think it's consumed 21,000 acres. There's almost 1,200 staff, firefighters, et cetera, out fighting this fire. So it's real, and it's close. So the fire score is something, they look at all the foliage around your home that you're gonna buy and how close you are to potential fire hazards. Now again, here we have forests.
I know. People are like, "You have forests?" Yes, we have forests, especially the further north you get, we have a lot of trees, and it's dry here. It's dry. So everything is crispy crunchy this time of year. So definitely you gotta keep that in mind. You know, obviously there's a lot of [00:03:00] us living here, and there have been fires over the years, but that fire score could make your home uninsurable or at least outprice you from what you can afford 'cause it's added obviously onto your mortgage.
Number three. Okay. The relocation reality that you are transitioning from that vacation mindset, "Oh my God, this is so lovely. We're just gonna go and vacation all day, and we're gonna go to the vineyards and sip wine." I mean, maybe you have a lifestyle like that, but most of us don't. Most of us get back into our normal little day-to-day routine, and I just wanna make sure that you've researched it, that we have talked and you understand where the shopping is, where the grocery stores are, what the activities are.
Are your hobbies gonna be met while you live here? I mean, I love being outdoors. I love the hiking. I love just looking at the view, excuse me, the [00:04:00] views, and other people are into the swimming and the kayaking and that type of thing. If you're more of a fishing person, there's not a lot of fishing here. So I'm just saying, if you're really a big boater or fishing person, we don't have a lot of that here in the Verde Valley Cottonwood area.
So let's talk about that vacation mindset versus your day-to-day life, because I'm here to help you find an area and a home that's gonna fit your day-to-day life, not just your vacation mode. Please, please click on the link below for our relocation guide. We created it just for you. Honestly, we did. It's all about living here in the Verde Valley and what resources are, what's here.
Please take a look at that and click the link. We'll send it to you for free, and I'm here to answer any questions. So please comment. What would you be concerned about [00:05:00] if you were moving here to Arizona?
